The video team is an independent production company, and every member is expected to wear many hats including but not limited to: Idea Generation: Ideas are everything. Every game we do something that has never been done on a baseball field. Ideas are expected to make baseball fun, be sharable, on brand and relevant to what’s happening in the world today. Preproduction: We uphold ourselves to high standards and stress the importance of being detail oriented. Every idea is meticulously scripted, storyboarded, rehearsed, adjusted and rehearsed again. There is no such thing as overpreparation, but we test those limits! Videography: We shoot our games differently than any other team in sports. We are in the action, interacting with the players, coaches and characters in the field of play. Successful shooting requires constant movement and the ability to adapt to unforeseen circumstances, which can sometimes mean physically demanding activity. We are constantly looking at what’s ahead while shooting what is presently happening. Postproduction: We are experiencing a new age of media where immediacy is the expectation. We edit with speed and intentionality to provide our digital audience with the most accurate depiction of a live game experience. We push the envelope to plus our content and make it unique and different from everyone else. They are obsessed with capturing new things in new ways to further build the brand of Banana Ball. Video Team Gold Standard – Does it make baseball fun? Is it fans first? Is it sharable? These three questions are asked before every decision is made. The best idea is one that plays as well for our live audience as it does digitally. How do we capture content effectively without taking away from the live experience? We have the most electric and fun teams in sports. We have millions of fans who want to engage deeply with our teams, our players, our cast, and more. It’s our job to connect these fans and create new fans of Banana Ball through our digital content. We must create the standard for what’s going to work in the future. Why is this job not for everyone? We are relentlessly resourceful. We don’t have the fanciest gadgets and gizmos, but that doesn’t stop us from creating the best content possible. A skilled craftsman with average tools is more powerful than an average craftsman with the finest. We will expect and push for an extremely high standard of content creation, production, and execution and expect someone that is hungry to learn, get better, and take constructive feedback. We are extremely picky on what content we want to see produced and posted. You will have your ideas shot down time and time again. This can be frustrating. The job is demanding. Our fans want to be with us 24/7/365. It is our job to provide them with the most up to date content to satisfy that demand. We move quickly. We don’t have weeks on end to come up with ideas, film the content, edit, and post. We have days, sometimes hours, to create high-quality content, and you must be okay with last-minute adjustments and changes. Gamedays are long and strenuous. Our personal growth has to outmatch the growth of our business. Growing and learning are paramount to leading and inspiring a team of people. You will meet regularly with the creative team to review goals, objectives, priorities, and results of your work and the department’s work. Decisions will be made together. We want someone who’s learning from outside the traditional sports industry and willing to challenge the status quo of video content. Someone who moves confidently with clear decision making – we learn most from doing. If something doesn’t turn out to the highest quality – we must be okay with not putting something out after putting the work in if it doesn’t meet brand standards. The ability to focus and prioritize the most important things and eliminate distractions. It’s easy to get wooed or pulled into a variety of different lanes.
