Changeover/ Operations Staff | Part-Time | Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena (UMBC)

OverviewThe Changeover/Operations Staff will perform the setup and changeover of the arena on an event-to-event basis. Also, assist with maintaining the cleanliness of the building. Overnight hours are to be expected on occasion. This role will pay an hourly rate of $15.00. Benefits for Part-Time roles: 401(k) Savings Plan, 401(k) matching. This position will remain open until November 27, 2026.ResponsibilitiesParticipate in all aspects of the conversion process for events.Setting up and tearing down flooring, hockey glass, chairs, barricades, staging, tables, and other furnishings and equipment. Responsible for the physical setup of all areas around the arena, including chairs, tables, staging, furnishings and equipment for sporting and live eventsResponding to promoters'/clients' needs as directed by the onsite building manager.Assist, when necessary, with pre/post event cleaning, including, but not limited to, sweeping, mopping, trash removal, vacuuming, spot cleaning, washing, and carpet cleaning. Maintain outside grounds, including parking areas, entrances, and the event plaza. Perform repairs and maintenance tasks as needed, such as painting, patching, and other conversion-related operational equipment.Maintain an effective working relationship with other departments, clients, and patrons encountered in the course of employment. Work effectively under pressure and stringent schedules to produce accurate results. Actively care for all arena equipment and property by storing, cleaning, and maintaining changeover equipmentRespond and resolve set-up issues promptly as directed by fellow staff and managementOther duties as assigned.Qualifications Must be able to lift heavy objects unaided. Previous experience using power tools as well as basic hand tools is highly preferred. Able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays. Must be able to work and be on feet for extended periods of time. Able to work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to perform tasks unsupervised as well as working as a team, helping others.Must be able to follow detailed instructions.
