JOB SUMMARY: The Dallas Stars are seeking an intern to join our Business Strategy & Analytics department. The intern will mainly support initiatives in the Ticket Sales & Service, Sponsorship, and Marketing departments. We are looking for someone driven, dependable, and who takes initiative. The position will have a direct hand in helping influence Dallas Stars’ ability to organize, analyze, and act on current and future data to keep the business on the cutting edge. This position is not eligible for remote work. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Support business intelligence, ticketing/pricing, marketing, and strategic projectsBuild and present data visualizations, dashboards, and presentations for use across the businessReview/update current reporting dashboards in Tableau and the SQL queries that support themAutomate or streamline existing processes through coding, use of software, or other innovative meansAssist with organizing, cleaning, and managing leads and other data in our Microsoft Dynamics CRMSupport the creation and analysis of fan and season ticket member surveys ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:Continue to advance Stars analytical capabilities and identify new revenue-generating and/or fan-creating opportunitiesCollaborate with Sponsorship and Marketing departments to analyze current market for the Dallas StarsConduct independent research on specific business topics and emerging technological areasEvaluate current technological infrastructure and identify areas where technology could be enhanced, added, or replaced to create efficienciesIdentify potential data sources to integrate into data warehouse/data lakeJOB QUALIFICATIONS:Currently pursuing or recently finished a Bachelor or master’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Sports Analytics, or related fieldProficient in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)Familiarity with data visualization, CRM, data warehousing tools and concepts, queries, and ETL toolsAnalytics experience (or related internships) within a sports organization preferredExperience with data visualization (Tableau, Tableau Server, Looker, PowerBI) preferredPrefer experience with data warehouses, queries, and ETL tools (SSMS, SQL, Alteryx, KNIME) Experience with CRM (Microsoft Dynamics, Salesforce, KORE Software) preferredPrefer experience with statistical software (R, Python, SAS)Experience with Ticketmaster/Archtics preferredPhysical Demands and Working EnvironmentWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers, handle objects and office tools, reach, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
