PORTLAND THORNSFounded in 2012, Portland Thorns FC have set the standard for fan support and on-field success in women’s soccer since its inaugural 2013 season. One of the world’smost supported women’s soccer clubs, Portland has led the league in attendance foreight seasons and set a new club playoff attendance record last year with 25,218 fanssupporting Thorns FC in the 2023 semifinal match at Providence Park. Thorns FChave won the NWSL Championship a league-record three times (2013, 2017, 2022)and finished as runners-up in 2018. The club has made the postseason a league-highnine times and has won the NWSL Shield in 2016 and 2021.WHO ARE THE PORTLAND THORNS?We are the Portland Thorns.We will be the #1 women’s football franchise in the world.We fight to protect the integrity of our team and to inspire our city.We are stewards of innovation…on and off the pitch.We have a storied history of winning with a championship pedigree.We believe in inclusiveness and demonstrating an authentic commitment to the community.We are diverse, multi-cultural and we take action with purpose and intent.We will relentlessly be a thorn in our opponent’s side and forever be the crown jewels of Portland.We are the Portland Thorns.THE ROLE:As a member of the Portland Thorns Ticket Sales Team, the Group Sales Manager isresponsible in increasing Group ticket sales through creating, and developing effectiveGroup sales campaigns while building, maintaining, and strengthening new as well ascurrent Group leader relationships.WHAT YOU’LL BE UP TO:• Develop and execute group sales strategies to achieve and exceed revenuetargets for Group ticket sales.• Maintain and be able to produce accurate reports regarding Group ticketsales and appointments associated in building Group sales revenue.• Provide problem solving sales and service techniques to assist withcustomer inquiries and concerns including but not limited to Group ticketinventories.• Execute effective sales calls and presentations promoting the purchase ofavailable Group ticket products to meet established sales objectives andgoals.• Direct sales of all Group ticket products to wide range of clientele, includingbut not limited to, corporate executives, business professionals, youth &charitable organizations, soccer fans and non-soccer fans.• Develop and maintain a database of leads, contacts, and prospects forongoing communication and relationship management.• Monitor industry trends and best practices to continually enhance the groupsales strategy and offerings.• Attend networking events, industry functions, and community gatherings topromote group ticket offerings.• Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to create targeted campaignsand promotional materials to attract group buyers.• Collaborate with the ticket sales team to align group sales strategies withbroader ticketing initiatives.• Work closely with the ticket operations team to ensure accurate seatingassignments and delivery of group tickets.• Coordinate and oversee the group sales process from inquiry to purchase,ticket allocation, and payment processing.• Work closely with Director of Ticket Sales & Service and the TicketOperations department to ensure Group inventory integrity while providinghigh levels of service for all Group purchasers.• Participate in events, promotions, client entertainment and other activitiesas required.• Work scheduled shifts during Portland Thorns home games and otherrequired team and/or Providence Park events, activities or functions asrequired.• Represent the Portland Thorns and Providence Park in a professional, andethical manner.• Sell FSE packages (full season, half season, and mini plans)WHAT IT TAKES TO BE A THORN:• Bachelors Degree or experience in lieu of a degree.• Four (4) years’ experience in sports and/or entertainment industrypreferred.• Knowledge and efficiency in ticket systems functions and databasemanagement.• Seat Geek ticketing & CRM system experience preferred.• Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.• MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook computer skills.• Excellent relationship building and people skills with the ability to interacteffectively and professional, diplomatic and in a mature manner internallyand externally.• An aggressive solicitor of business with drive and initiative to succeed.• Polished presentation skills, with an ability to think and react to situationsconfidently.• Assertive, persistent, results oriented.• Understands the importance of working as a team and adhere todepartment guidelines.• Ability to work weekends, nights, and holidays as dictated by events.• Ability to build relationships through strong outbound call prospecting dailyis required.• Excellent written and oral communications skills.BENEFITS:• Competitive salary, base plus commission.• Comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and wellness programs• Opportunities for professional development and career advancement• Dynamic, collaborative and fun work environment• Opportunity to make a meaningful impact and contribute to the growth of women's soccerReady to Be a Thorn in the Best Possible Way?
