OverviewThe Director of Finance is primarily responsible for overseeing all aspects of the financial agreements, including developing, coordinating, and supervising the accounting procedures related to the operation of the facilities. Including but not limited to maintaining formal accounting systems, supervising the organization of accounting records, supervising the preparation of monthly financial statements and event settlements, and preparing and managing the yearly budget. This position is on-site at the Saenger Theatre and/or Regions Arena or Mobile Convention Center. Standard business hours apply, with occasional flexibility required to support events, including mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed. Must maintain regular attendance and a professional presence. This role pays an annual salary of $100,000-$120,000 and is bonus eligible. This position will remain open until October 2, 2026ResponsibilitiesManages and participates in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities of assigned programs and functions, including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivables, purchasing, budgeting and the general ledgerManages and participates in the development and administration of the convention center's annual budget; direct and provide consultation to department managers in the forecast of additional funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies; direct the monitoring of and approve expenditures; implement budgetary adjustments as necessaryPrepares financial statements for the Client and OVG Corporate Office, and other financial reports, including monthly statements, annual budget and annual reportCoordinates the accounting activities of the facility in relation to the annual audit; serve as liaison for the Accounting Section with other departments, division and outside auditors; negotiate and resolve significant and controversial issuesAnalyzes balance sheet and P&L figures for monthly financial statements; prepares comments and explanations of performance trendsReviews and executes all checks and deposits; reviews daily cash receipts and disbursementsReviews financial statements with management personnelPlans, develops and recommends procedures to ensure the financial management of the facility is in line with corporate goals and objectivesSelects, trains, motivates and evaluates Accounting Department staff; provides or coordinates staff trainings; works with employees to correct deficienciesPlans, directs, coordinates, and reviews the workflow for the Finance Department; meets with staff on a regular basis to identify and resolve challenges; assigns work activities, projects and programs; monitors workflow; reviews and evaluates methods and proceduresMonitors compliance with all provisions of the management contractAssist with show settlement including payments to promoters; compile all post-show financial info to enter GL; prepare show income/loss reportsPrepare appropriate state and local tax returns to be filed timelyWorks cooperatively with other department directors on projects of mutual interestEstablish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, contractors and facility usersOccasionally functions as Manager on DutyOther duties and responsibilities as assignedQualificationsEducation & Experience:5-7 years of professional accounting experience, including at least three (3) years of supervisory responsibility.Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in accounting, finance, public or business administration or a related field. Additional experience may be substituted for formal education.Experience with NetSuite and Oracle preferred.Previous Arena/Hotel/Convention Center accounting experience preferred.Certified Public Accountant preferred.Skills & Competencies:Strong interpersonal and communication skillsExcellent organizational skills and attention to detailAbility to work independently and as part of a teamProficiency in Microsoft Office applications, accounting systems software and internet applicationsApplication of Generally Accepted Accounting PrincipalsAccurate interpretation preparation of financial statements and budgetsPrinciples and practices of supervision, training and performance evaluationRelevant federal, state, and local regulationsFamiliar with terminology used in entertainment and convention settingsKnowledge with principles of budget preparation and controlCommunicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writingAbility to recruit, interview, select, train, manage, direct and evaluate all subordinate employees in the Finance DepartmentAbility to provide administrative and professional leadership and direction for all finance activitiesAble to recommend and implement goals, objectives, and practices for providing effective and efficient customer serviceAbility to recognize challenges, analyze and identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations in support of organizational objectivesAble to interpret and apply administrative and departmental policies and procedures
