If you believe you would make a great fit to our team, apply now!Job DescriptionThe Muskegon Lumberjacks Communications and Broadcasting Intern will work closely with the Director of Communications and Broadcasting and the organization’s digital media team to assist in developing and executing the team’s communications, broadcasting, and content strategies.This internship provides practical experience in sports media, including live broadcasting, public relations, digital content creation, game production, and media relations. Interns may complete this position for college credit or as a professional development opportunity.TermThe internship will run throughout the 2026-2027 USHL season, beginning in October and concluding in April or May depending on postseason results.Summer internship opportunities may also be available. Candidates seeking fall or spring semester internships are encouraged to apply.This is an in-person, on-site internship requiring attendance at Muskegon Lumberjacks home games and team events.Responsibilities May IncludeAssist with all Muskegon Lumberjacks home game operationsProvide color commentary for Lumberjacks broadcasts on FloHockey and MixlrOpportunities for play-by-play broadcasting assignmentsAssist with pregame show production, including setup and teardownWrite post-game recaps, game previews, feature stories, and other website contentCreate game notes and media information packets for press box personnelEdit and publish video highlights for YouTube and social media platformsAssist with in-game social media coverage and digital content creationSupport media relations efforts, including organization of team information and statisticsComplete additional projects and responsibilities as assigned QualificationsCurrently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in sports media, communications, journalism, broadcasting, or a related field (preferred, but not required)Previous broadcasting experience preferredExperience with photo and video editing software, including Adobe Creative SuiteStrong knowledge and understanding of hockeyReliable transportation requiredAbility to work Lumberjacks home games, including nights, weekends, and holidaysStrong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced environmentExcellent written and verbal communication skillsPositive attitude with a willingness to learn, receive feedback, and grow professionally For more information about the Muskegon Lumberjacks, please visit muskegonlumberjacks.com.
