OverviewThe Assistant Event Services Manager works in the Events department and is responsible for assisting with the planning and execution of Mullett Arena events. This role pays an annual salary of $50,000-$58,000Benefits for Full-Time roles: Health, Dental and Vision Insurance, 401(k) Savings Plan, 401(k) matching, and Paid Time Off (vacation days, sick days, and 11 holidays).This position will remain open until October 30, 2026ResponsibilitiesTake ownership of assigned events in the facility, inclusive of working with tour personnel, and briefing relevant stakeholders. Support events personnel with contracted vendors such as security and emergency medical. Building liaison with ASU internal departments such as Fire, Police & Emergency Management. Manage scheduling of all part-time staff requested per event through various scheduling platforms.Work with event managers for event permitting needs to ensure compliance. Effectively lead, direct, and work alongside part-time staff with the goal of creating exceptional experiences at Mullett Arena.Assist with managing guest services activities such as lost and found coordination. Assist with creating and leading events for part-time staff recognition and providing continuous opportunities for staff to remain engaged and part of the team.Help coordinate staff check-ins, call-offs, event briefings, and post-event meetings with guest services staff.Respond to staff and guest inquiries and concerns daily through both verbal and written communication. Serve as Manager on Duty with full autonomy for assigned events as well as in the absence of other Management staff. Work with event managers to ensure all laws, codes, ordinances, policies, procedures, risk management, safety precautions, rules/regulations, and emergency procedures are followed.Assist with managing and advancing both large-scale events and ancillary events, including concerts, sports events, VIP receptions, and special events.Communicate and disseminate event-related information to appropriate departments, vendors, and others to ensure overall event understanding.Develop and maintain effective working relationships with clients, partners, and all stakeholders. Empower staff to take opportunities to create memorable experiences and/or resolve guest concerns timely, effectively, and with great service. Strategically position guest services staff on an event-by-event basis.Help with building signage needs specific to guest services & security. Perform other administrative duties such as reviewing and uploading invoices, reviewing payroll, and responding to event inquiries via email or phone.Take on special projects and additional responsibilities as assigned by the Event Managers.QualificationsBachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in sports/event management, business, hospitality management, or a related field.3-5 years of previous experience with event services, preferably in a sports facility.Availability to work a flexible, events driven schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.
